Character Description

My friend and colleague Lynn and I have been teaching a lovely group of darlings for some writing extension. One part of this is writing models to show them what good writers do and what a good piece of writing looks like. This week we're looking at describing a person we know. Lynn taught the lesson and wrote about me and I wanted to share. I hope she doesn't mind, here it is.

Kind green eyes scan the classroom for students she can compliment. She tucks her straight brown hair behind one ear and leans quietly in to speak to one child. Her voice is quiet yet encouraging, and her comments are often laced with humour. Mrs Clarke prefers to wear comfortable clothes. She loves to wear black but tries to inject her outfits with a dash of colour.
Mrs Clarke’s creativity is evident in much of what she does. She loves to make crafty things and willingly shares her ideas and expertise with others. Mrs Clarke proudly calls herself a geek; she loves all things digital, especially gaming, blogging and digital photography.
Mrs Clarke makes all the children in her class feel special. This is because she genuinely likes children, and seeing them learn. Her friends appreciate her for her generosity, especially in sharing her time and talents with them. Mrs Clarke also values her family dearly. She cooks delicious meals for her husband and daughter, and often goes on family adventures with them, and her beloved rottweiler Jake.

I am lucky to be able to call Mrs Clarke a colleague and a friend. We enjoy working together and having fun together.
