Tasty Tuesday - A honey conclusion
Well, I've all but exhausted one of my free honey treats from Mother Earth over the last three weeks and will no doubt demolish the last on our toast over the next wee while.
I've really enjoyed being re-inspired to use honey in my cooking and baking, both sweet and savoury and have found some recipes along the journey that I will make time and again.
This week I made...
Cinnamon Honey Creme Brulee
Just be prepared that they are very, very sickly sweet. Also in the sickly sweet category...
Homemade Honey Ice Cream
I haven't eaten it yet, only tested it, so no photo, but it's delicious!
And last but not least, yesterday Leah and I whipped up these yummy spiced biscuits.
I'm glad to have been reunited with this cooking ingredient and will be continuing to use the Mother Earth range in the future. Recipes still on my list to try are...
Honey Rolls
Raw chocolate smoothie
Honey Lemon Chicken
Here are some other tips and uses you may not have thought of for honey.
Top Ten Honey Tips:
1. Store honey at room temperature rather than in the fridge. Keep it tightly covered in a safe place.
2. Honeyed butter can be used to season cooked potatoes of veges. Mix four parts butter with one part honey.
3. Tea isn't the only hot beverage that tastes better with a little honey. For a cocktail that's easy on the taste buds and guaranteed to warm you up, try a hot toddy - honey is a key ingredient.
4. Honey is rich in minerals and nutrients, and can give us natural energy and boost the immune system. It's great for soothing sore throats.
5. When measuring honey for baking, first coat the measuring spoon with a small amount of oil so the honey won't stick.
6. Sometimes when honey is left unused it naturally crystalises in the jar. Honey can be liquified by microwaving for about 30 seconds or in a pan of hot water over a low heat until the crystals dissolve. Make sure you remove the lid!
7. Honey can be used to sweeten soups. try drizzling a bit of honey on your favourite spicy or roast vegetable soup just before serving.
8. Try using honey in your next salad dressing - honey, lemon juice, olive oil and fresh herbs. Divine taste of summer!
9. A drizzle of sweey honey is the perfect contrast to salty cheese, such as, a nicewedge of blue cheese, drizzled with honey and sprinkled with chopped pecans or walnuts.
10. Add a teaspoon of mild-flavoured honey to cream while you beat it. It keeps it firmer and for longer.
Thanks again to Mother Earth for the goodies they provided. They definitely got me reinvigorated about honey. I'm loving it now, and I've learned that my little mini me loves it too - she's still raving about those ice-blocks.

Weekly 10: 27 September - 3 October
If it wasn't time for an easy week last week then this week sure is. I've been feeling the crunch, as I said for 'Things I'm loving' yesterday... why did no one tell me that 2 kids under 5 was such a busy maker? Wouldn't change it... and wouldn't change my productivity either because my little projects and getting things crossed off my list makes me super happy, but I think I need some 'Kate time'.
Let's have a look at how I did with this week's 10.
I must admit, I haven't completely made the advent calendar up. But everything's printed out to put together. So I'll pop that on next week's list. It'll fit in nicely with one of my other more relaxing ones.
3. Blog! Schedule 10 posts for future weeks (on top of what needs to be done for this week.
I haven't clocked it, but I can confirm I have got to the top of Mt Pajamaja... I think that's about 3/4 of the way through. Will play more next week. Have really enjoyed having the DS out again and I'm excited about clocking this and getting on to Kingdom Hearts.
This was great! I put these things away when Leah was 18 months old so there was plenty of things now that Leah was able to get out and use/read. Was like Christmas for Leah! The boxes are still pretty much full of bits and bobs that can come out as and when. Woo hoo!
Excited for my coming week of a more 'relaxing' list. Glad there's still a few productive things on here :)
1. Go through bookshelf and tidy/organise/re-organise
2. Buy tomato plants and plant
3. Clock Dream Team
4. Watch True Blood
5. Read
6. Take Willow for her 6 week appointment
7. Walk with Andrea x2.
8. Go for a photo walk
9. Have a date with Rachel.
10. Cross some things off the 'extras' list

Things I'm Loving
![]() |
| Every week may not be good, but there is something good in every week. |
I'm loving that our first month photo went well. This wasn't the winner but I love her little smile in it. Very cute. Having a look at the comparison between Leah's Month 1 photo has shown how similar the two of them are and also how far my photography skills have come!
Loved having a wee bit of sun and a sleeping little girl so that me and my big girl could enjoy the sun for a bit one day after daycare. I've been struggling with how I can't spend as much time with Leah lately and how my wick is very short with her. These little moments of zen, when all my moons align, are priceless.
I love my pretty recipe organiser that one of my bestest friends bought for me. Those 'just cuz it reminded me of you' gifts are what makes the world go around. <3 Thanks Nicola.
Love. My. Nails. I actually can't stop looking at them. In love. So far the line of stones has stayed on for a whole day! Almost a record for me.
Loving that daylight savings inspired a little bit of summer. So much so that it was cider time. Now if it would stop raining and being so windy I would be really stoked.
Loving this... I'm trying!
This brought a smile to my face earlier in the week.. ya know, when I knew the sun. Lol.
What are you loving this week?

Three Year Old Thursday - Glue sticking
When I was a wee tike I loved crafty things - paper craft, colouring, drawing - but Leah doesn't seem to want to do much of this at home. At daycare, she evidently loves it! I have a whole cupboard full of all kinds of art projects, but at home there's other things she'd rather do I guess...unless I bring out the glue stick.
We make plenty of mixed media art at home. Getting cheap supplies from the $2 shop and shops like it and using them in a variety of ways. I also keep old cards etc to be cut up and pasted onto card to make new cards of our own.
Learning to use the glue stick is tough! Is there something your little one likes to do that I might like to try with Leah?
